Vision & problem statement

We want to achieve an independent integrated farming system, free of organic waste in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, and its surroundings or a broad range, and strengthen the community's culture of sorting and processing waste. We address 2 main problems, from our external and internal sides. External problems concern organic waste, especially those produced by food companies, small and medium micro business stalls, and households in general. Meanwhile, internal problems are related to dependence on factory-produced livestock feed.

Our solution

Our solution is implementing an integrated farming system with circular economy principles. We process organic waste from stalls and households into maggots for animal feed. Then, we process the manure into natural fertilizer for agricultural land. The agricultural products will be human consumption in homes or stalls. And so on as a circular economic chain. It is feasible and practicable. The production of organic waste in Kolaka Regency, Indonesia, is massive and has not been appropriately managed. Likewise, organic integrated farming is still infrequent for people to do. The uniqueness lies in the system. We produce food from waste.

About the team

Ester (English language education student as well as biotechnology alumnus) is responsible for the waste management process from maggot cultivation to livestock and crop production. Alfira (law student) is responsible for managing legal and finance. Joko (civil engineering fresh graduate) is responsible for the construction of maggot cultivation buildings and others. We are driven to utilize abandoned land to process waste into edible agricultural products with a profitable system.
