Vision & problem statement

It is a common practice to have untreated wastewater directly into water bodies bodies or put onto agricultural land, causing significant health and economic risks. This all results from the uncontrolled growth in urban areas which has made planning and expansion of water and sewage systems very difficult and expensive to carry out. This makes sanitation an issue to the society. The idea of this time aims at coming up with a hybrid wastewater treatment system that is much more environmental conservative as well as cheap.

Our solution

Aquachar aims at developing a wastewater treatment system that protects and conserves the environment. This system will be made up of the reed bed grease trap with the component of biochar made from the organic wastes as one of the filters. The beauty with this system is that the quality of water from it is better than those existing ones. This treated water can be used in a variety of activities for example irrigation, laundry works, and also if purified can be used for drinking. The implementation of this idea will help in overcoming the problems of water stress and water scarcity in the society especially in the urban areas.

About the team

The team brings a great understanding of the effects of wastewater and how it can be treated in the simplest way possible for reuse. The team therefore brings much expertise in research about wastewater in our societies. We are driven by the fact that wastewater which is not treated is dangerous and may cause problems of environment pollution, sanitation and healthy issues.
